Liz Dunning
Gun Violence Survivor & Chief Development and Engagement Officer

Liz enjoys being Brady's Chief Development and Engagement Officer because she knows that it will take all of us working together to free America from gun violence. She brings deep expertise in nonprofit management, strategy, and organizational development, having worked primarily in the public education policy and philanthropic sectors over her 25-year career. Liz previously served as Brady's Director of Institutional Giving and VP of Development. Prior to joining Team Brady, she was the Senior Vice President of Programs for the NEA Foundation. She earned her B.A. with high honors from Kenyon College and her M.B.A. from the Yale School of Management.

Liz is also a gun violence survivor. In 2003, her mother was shot and killed answering the door of her home. It took nearly 12 years to bring the killer to justice. That long-awaited guilty verdict prompted her to become a more public gun violence prevention advocate. In 2017, Liz celebrated her 40th birthday, and what would have been her mom’s 70th birthday, by launching Run Lizzie Run. She ran the D.C. Rock 'n' Roll marathon on her mom’s birthday, raising nearly $30,000 for Brady in the process.

Today, Liz lives in Washington, D.C., with her husband, two kids, and two dogs. Between chasing her kids, dogs, and running races, she is almost always in comfortable shoes.
